Since the 2018-19 campaign, Ramon has played under Alonso, who embarked on his coaching journey at Real Madrid's youth academy. Nevertheless, Chelsea's interest in Ramon predated Alonso's arrival at the club, originating back in January of the previous year. At that time, the Blues had listed Ramon alongside Yakace (now plying his trade at Liverpool) and Senesi (currently at Tottenham) as potential acquisition targets. While Chelsea prioritized Yakace in their recruitment plans, the latter ultimately opted for Liverpool.
